“In some ways suffering
ceases to be suffering
at the moment it finds a meaning.”
-Viktor Frankl
Megan Carmazzi, AMFT, APCC
My journey to Counseling began in 2015 as a high school tutor. Working with adolescents as they explored who they were, I began to recognize recurring themes in their experiences. While tutoring, I validated their emotions and encouraged them to focus on their strengths. I emphasized that discovering and developing who they were was just as valuable as what appeared on a report card. I observed that when a student’s confidence increased, their grades almost always improved as well. I was intrigued and in awe by the courage and perseverance I saw in each student.
In my life, I have been labeled anxious, emotional, and sensitive. Those words, once heavy with negativity, made me doubt the validity of my emotions and led to quiet suffering. When I began tutoring, I realized that the agonizing feeling of being “too sensitive” actually had a meaning rooted in compassion and empathy. My deep empathy is my strength that I use to further my life and help others create self-efficacy in theirs. Through Counseling, my suffering has found meaning and I have become more whole.
In each of my clients, I see a resilient individual working toward personal growth whether suffering a loss, processing trauma, building anxiety management skills, or seeking a safe space to be seen and heard.
No matter where you are in your journey, I am here for you. You do not have to face it alone. Together we will cultivate self-compassion and healing so you can grow and reconnect with the strength and resilience you’ve carried within you all along.
